Ferry Arrival in Alaska

Back to Search Results

The Ketchikan dock is a flurry of activity when the ferry arrives from Prince of Wales Island. Ferry transportation is critical to the region where the boat takes three hours to come from Hollis. It runs twice a day in the summer and once a day in the winter. Fishermen unload their boxed catch to transfer to the airport on their way home. Tourists and locals unload bags and the next set of passengers wait to board the ferry back to Prince of Wales Island. Buses, taxis and airport commuter vans fill the parking lot.
