Why Does a Burmese Python Cross the Road?

Back to Search Results

A Burmese Python slithers across a road it was caught on in Everglades National Park. One time pets get too big and hungry for owners to handle and they are released into the "wild." <br />
In the 70s a few Burmese python citings were documented in the park. In the mid-90s, there were more reports. In the past two years, the number has grown and there is evidence that the snake that grows to 12 feet long is established and breeding in the park. Enough have multiplied that native Everglades wildlife is threatened.
