A foal romps in circles just for fun.  The Gila herd are of Spanish origin and came to North America with the Conquistadors in the 1600s.  They were rescued by Karen Sussman and the International Society for the Protection of Mustangs and Burros.Wild Horse Annie, Velma Johnston, was the first. Annie, along with Helen Reilly worked together for the passage of the 1971 Wild Horses and Burros Act to protect horses from slaughter and inhumane treatment.
