Human Skull in Remote Land

Back to Search Results

Discoveries still abound in Alaska's remote BLM lands. Near Lonely, Alaska, on the Beaufort Sea, a skull suddenly comes to light likely the remains of a sailor on a 19th century whaler, stranded by weather and done in by lead poisoning from canned rations. Sod houses and decomposing boats complete the desperate archeological scene.
