The Matanuska Glacier, a large 24 mile long and 4 mile wide ice flow. It is aan active glacier advancing one foot a day on a valley floor. Most Alaskan glaciers are smaller alpine glaciers hanging off mountain slopes. ....It is blue because the density of glacier ice allows the entire spectrum of light to be absorbed with the exception of the blue light which is reflected, and can therefore be seen by your eye.
