Mare and New Born Foal

Born in the cover of night, a foal walks unsteadily beside his mother at day break. The freeze brand on the mares neck indicates she was a wild horse captured by the Bureau of Land Management.<br />

Horses rescued by Karen Sussman and the International Society for the Protection of Mustangs and Burros.<br />
The Gila herd descended from the Spanish Conquistadors.  The herd had 31 horses when gathered in Arizona and have grown to over 80 in the past seven years.
