Baby Alligator

An American alligator hatchling swims near his mother in the waters of the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge. The baby gators are hatched from eggs and protected in a nest by their
fierce mothers until they can fend for themselves.
The once endangered species can live 30 to 35 years in the wild, growing to 8-12 feet long and weighing 500 to 1,000 pounds.
