Chauchilla Cemetery with Exposed Skeletons

Skeletons bleach in the sun in a cemetery dating from A.D. 500-700. The cemetery of Chauchilla was dug up and mummies set in tomb like graves facing east--their bones and skulls bleached by the sun. Some have hair and teeth. There are fragments of clothing dating back to the late Nazca period--the nearby community charges people who tour the graves. The site is located south of the Nazca lines..
