Softball teams compete in the shadow of Snake Hill, the most unique geological feature and the only natural hill in the Meadowlands. The distinctive rock mass is believed by geologists to be the stump of a volcano from the Watchung Mountains and is the rock featured in Prudential Insurance ads. Hackensack Meadowlands Development Commission has been pro-active in improving some land for community use by making the open space more accessible. A new park and boat ramp on the Hackensack River are helping to change the image of the area.  Plans are in the works to rename Snake Hill a more friendly sounding "Laurel Hill."
