This is a Karo village called Duss. Some say Duss is made of DUST. The winds come downriver and take the powdered dry silt dust the Omo has washed here and kick it up in the air. This dust has the consistency of drywall powder. The smoke in the background is not a CONTROLLED BURN like many cultures do for agriculture, it is an UNCONTROLLED BURN... These tribes just set a fire and hope it goes the right way to clear a field... they often end up burning down their own huts.
