Good Life For Florida Cats

Kitties flock to a golf course feeding at Ocean Reef, a private community. When the decision is made to fight an invasive species, the methods can be ruthless: widespread slayings, mass poisonings, relentless uprootings. But the only thing these feral cats are in danger of is being killed by kindness. In the community on Key Largo, Florida, three volunteers--including Susan Hershey, care for the area's feral cats, making sure the animals are spayed or neutered as well as fed. In ten years this program has cut the population from a high of some 2,000 cats down to about 500.
