Local people build homes that float on the water and are tethered to land in protected areas.  Swede Ecklund and his wife live a quiet life in a secluded bay off of Prince of Wales Island in Southeast Alaska.  The two have raised over 30 foster boys.  They worked as cooks in logging camps after Swede was injured in a logging accident.
