Cowboys gather in the shade during the heat of the day in the bunkhouse in Beef Basin in southeastern Utah. They are helping Dugout Ranch herd, owned by Heidi Redd runs about 650 head of cattle of them on public land during summer months. Many Western ranchers depend heavily on BLM allotments, where grazing fees remain far lower than on state or private lands.
